Daniel James "DJ" Oxendine
LUMBERTON — Daniel James "DJ" Oxendine, 69, of 178 Circle Drive died May 23, 2014 at his residence.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Dogwood Baptist Church with the Revs. James Albert Hunt, Thomas Oxendine and Bishop Kenny Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Oxendine was born in Robeson County on June 28, 1944 and was a son of the late Rev. Chesley Oxendine and Mary Bell McMillian Oxendine.
Oxendine was employed with Flour-Daniels Construction for several years and retired from Dixie Lawn Service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Lambert Oxendine; a son, Danny James Locklear; five sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by four daughters, Carol Locklear and husband Bobby, Melissa Rogers and husband Shawn, Joy Hunt and Michelle Gales and husband Michael, all of Lumberton; a granddaughter that Mr. Oxendine raised, Danielle Oxendine Hunt, of Pembroke; three sisters, Betty L. Chavis of Maxton, Lela Bell Hunt of Greensboro, Cherrie Lee Smith of Climax; four brothers, Michael Oxendine of Pembroke, Ronald Ray Oxendine of Fairmont, Earl Oxendine of Lumberton, James D. Oxendine of Charlotte; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Earl Hunt of Rowland; and a special friend, Ronald Blue of Lumberton.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Revels Funeral Home Lumberton.
