ROWLAND — Amon Locklear, 92, of 505 Alfordsville Road, Rowland, was born May 18, 1921, and died on Nov. 7, 2013, at his home.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Lumbee Memorial Gardens, the Revs. Larry Oxendine, Ricky Locklear and Gary Chavis officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Ella Locklear; his wife, Ada J. Locklear; a son, Larry D. Locklear; a granddaughter, Becky H. Hunt; three sisters, Alene Emanuel, Berlean Locklear, and Judy Locklear; and three brothers, James Locklear, Charles Locklear, and Alton Locklear.
Mr. Locklear is survived by four daughters, Betty J. Locklear (Jerry, Ethan) of the home, Evelene Hunt of Laurinburg, Judy Hatcher (Clyde) of Rowland, and Martha Butler of Maxton; a special granddaughter and care giver, Marilyn Sencenbaugh; two sons, Brantley Locklear and Marcus D. Locklear (Kim), both of Rowland; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends and family from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
