Billy Sumner Wilder

TARBORO - Billy Sumner Wilder, 85, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 12, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Tarboro with the Rev. Eric Crow officiating. Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.
Billy was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie G. Wilder and second wife, Bonner H. Wilder; and his parents, Charlie Wilder and Eula Wilder; and 2 brothers, Brice and Braxton Wilder.
Billy was a devout Christian, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was also a Mason and Shriner and an avid ECU Pirate fan. Billy was a graduate of Wake Forest University and served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954. Billy retired from Sprint (formerly Carolina Telephone) as Director - Local Revenues after 40 plus years of dedicated service.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving family, including his daughter, Jeri W. Walston, and husband Robbie, of Fayetteville; son, Bill Wilder, of Wilmington; grandchildren, Michelle Overby, and husband, Daniel of Greenville; Matt Walston, and wife, Hayley of Raleigh; Morgan Walston of Charlotte; Bryan Wilder, and wife, Olivia of Burgaw; and Emily Wilder of Wilmington.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Carlisle Funeral Home, 701 Hospital Drive, Tarboro, on Sunday, May 11, from 6:00-8:00 pm.
