KINSTON - Richard Linwood "Lynn" Tolston, 90, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston.
He was born to the late Richard Thomas Tolston and Claudia Powell Tolston of Edgecombe Co.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred "Lucky" Tolston, brothers William T. Tolston, Harvey J. Tolston and Ernest E. Tolston, sisters Helen T. Poe, Verna H. Smith, Ruth T. Harper and Erlene T. Williams.
Lynn served his Country during WWII
as a Seaman with the Merchant Marines. He was co-owner of Tolston Heating and Air and was a member of the American Legion Post 43. Richard was an avid Harley Davidson rider and enthusiast.
Survivors include his sons, Richard "Ricky" Linwood Tolston, Jr., Gary Tolston and wife Betty and Mark Tolston and wife Leraine, all of Kinston, Michael Tolston and wife Holly of Swansboro; two grandchildren, Tanner and Gunner Tolston of Swansboro; sister, Joyce Kfoury of MA; and brother, Maurice Tolston of Rocky Mount as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Graveside services was held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Westview Cemetery with James H. Griffin and son Chaplain Randy Griffin officiating.
