Victor Landrey Gaskins

Victor Landrey Gaskins, 66, of Rocky Mount, NC died on August 22, 2013, at Vidant Hospital in Greenville, NC. He was the son of the late David Gaskins and Barbara E. Tillett.
Landrey Joined the Army at nineteen, and was sent to Vietnam. He was a hero, and he received three purple hearts for his service. He re-enlisted and was sent to Korea. He stayed in the Army for four years, and he received an honorable discharge. He was a police dispatcher at the Pinetops Police Department for thirteen years.
Landrey was an avid fisherman, and most of his retirement was spent fishing. He enjoyed shad fishing at Rocky Mount. He also enjoyed camping and fishing at Belhaven, NC.
Landrey is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Eason Gaskins, of Rocky Mount, NC; his step-father, David Tillett, of Rocky Mount, NC; one daughter, Vicky Gaskins Hodges, and son-in-law George Hodges Jr.; two sisters, Dearlone Daniels and husband Georgie Daniels, of Wanchese, Sally Kay Daniels and husband Charlie Daniels of Tulsa, OK; three grandsons, Dylan, Drake, and Dayne Hodges, of Rocky Mount, NC; three nieces, Angie Sawyer of Wanchese, and husband Keith, Heather Sulkowski, of Florida, and husband Ryan, Rachael Rowland of Tulsa, OK, and husband Jason; one nephew, Shane Daniels of California, and wife Sheila.
A service to remember Landrey will be held at 3:00 p.m., at Twiford Funeral Home, 500 Budleigh St, Manteo, NC, on Sunday, August 25, 2013.
