Johnny Alfred Dew, age 57, of Bunn, North Carolina passed away on March 29th.
Johnny was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on January 22, 1957. He graduated from Northern Nash Senior High School where he excelled in baseball.
Johnny was a man of many talents. God gave him a beautiful voice and a musical ear to play the guitar to any type of music. One of his favorite past times was playing guitar and singing with his pride and joy, his 12-year-old daughter Ciara. Johnny was also a talented artist and a natural athlete. He could draw well and he wrote beautiful poetry and songs. He excelled at any sport that he took up; as an adult, he was a scratch golfer and a fierce competitor in billiards.
Johnny was an entrepreneur, engaging in numerous business ventures over the years after first serving for 10 years as a fireman in Rocky Mount. He started and ran a number of businesses, his favorite of which was a billiards room in Rocky Mount that he proudly made a wholesome place of entertainment. An example of Johnny's generosity was a tournament that he hosted annually at the billiards room with the Shrine Club to support the Children's Hospital.
Through his business ventures and his hobbies, Johnny accumulated many friends through the years. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend in need. His attention to detail and strive for perfection showed in his approach on any project. He will be missed by many, especially his family who loved him dearly.
Special loved ones welcoming Johnny to his Heavenly Home are his cherished parents Virginia and Lee Dew, Jr., and two brothers Rickie Dew and Robbie Dew.
Johnny is survived by wife Debbie Dew of Bunn, daughter Ciara Dew of Bunn, brother Spencer Dew (Vickie) of Rocky Mount, sister Sharon Outlaw (Wayne) of Rocky Mount, sister Brenda Measamer (Bill) of Raleigh, sister Buffie Rodri (Christy) of Raleigh, and numerous nieces and nephews.
