Fannie Mae Neville Peace, 83, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 27, 2013. Family members who preceded her in death were her parents, Lorther and Sallie Neville; four sisters, Lucile Henry, Thelma Whitley, Betty Ruth Jones and Mattie Lee Bryant; one brother, William Edward Neville; two infant brothers, Floyd and Nicholson. She was born April 17, 1930 in Halifax County.
She was affectionately known to many of those who loved her as "Bay". Known for her wonderful country cooking, you could find at Bay's kitchen table on any given day, fried cornbread, collards, turnip greens, rutabagas, apple and tater jacks and much more. She loved traveling with her husband to the mountains, where they had friends in many hoot and hollers. She loved working in her yard and could pond fish with the best of them.
She was a loving person to both family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 50 years, Tom; step-son Ray Peace and wife Sherry of Rocky Mount; two grandsons, Chris Oliver of Raleigh and Kyle Oliver of Greenville; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; plus many nieces and nephews.
We would like to give a special thanks to the Oncology Department at Nash General Hospital for their loving care in her last days. A special thanks to all our praying family and friends. Also, thank you to Billy and Becky Neville, Chad and Michelle Neville, Betty Parker, Bonnie Pittman and Chris and Missy Toler for their countless hours spent with Bay as she waited for her Heavenly call.
The family will receive friends at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home from 7:00pm to 8:30pm Wednesday and other times at the home of Ray and Sherry Peace at 4120 Ketchpoint Drive. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday morning at Harvest Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Wood and Rev. Allan Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted.
