Stanley Edward Osborne, loving father, proud World War II veteran, local
business man, and devoted Christian, passed away December 12, 2013 at the
well-earned age of 94. Born in Trade, Tennessee, in 1919, Stanley was the
only child of Dorthea and Volna Osborne. He and his wife Juanita moved
their family to the Daytona Beach area in 1951. He owned and operated
Osborne Jewelers in the 700 block of Daytona's Main Street from 1951 to
1974, and was a member of the Union Congregational Church United Church of
Christ in Holly Hill. He relished tending his citrus trees and working in
the yard, sorting out difficult puzzles, and reading the Bible. Thus, his
everyday activities reflected his philosophy for life: he embraced hard
work and faith equally, and loved a good challenge. Chocolate ice cream,
family reunions, and Christmas Eve candlelight services were a few of his
favorite things. Stanley leaves a vibrant legacy to those family members
who survive him.
His four children: Beverly Williams (Ormond Beach, FL), Gene Osborne
(Rocky Mount, NC, owner of Osborne Jewelers at Westridge Shopping
Center), Teri Campbell (Fayette, ME), and Wayne Osborne (Rocky Mount,
NC); nine grandchildren, Diane, Buddy, Debbie, Laura, Amber Paige,
Bretton, Kelly, Eben amd Amber Briana; and five great-grandchildren. His
family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. and the
funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haigh-Black
Funeral Home, 167 Vining Court, Ormond Beach. Entombment will follow at
Volusia Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Union
Congregational United Church of Christ, 1050 Daytona Ave., Holly Hill, FL
32117.
