Susan Dare Mason Medley, age 52, went home to heaven on Thursday, May 23, 2013. Born in Richmond, Virginia on June 1, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Merrill C. Mason Jr. and Claudia Francis Mason. She was also preceded in death by her fraternal grandparents, Minnie Mason and Merrill Mason of Fort Mountain, Virginia and maternal grandparents, John Francis and Louvenia Francis.

Susan was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church in Bassett, Virginia where she was active in the GA's and Acteens. She was also active in the 4H Club. While in Virginia, Susan handled insurance at Fieldcrest Mills in Fieldale, Virginia.
She worked with her husband "Tony" 20 years with Transpo Gas Company as she wished to be by Tony's side. A loving and devoted wife to Tony, she devoted herself to him at all times. He called her his "Pretty Girl" and she was the love of his life. Susan loved to write and in her past time wrote about life with Tony in her journals.
Susan leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Joseph "Tony" Medley; father and mother-in-law, William Jennings Medley and Jackie Medley; step daughter, Brandi Lee Medley and friend Joey Parker; step grandson, Timothy Dylan Medley; brother, Danny Andrew Mason; sister, Sherri Mason White and husband Tom; nephew, Todd Mason Clark; and special cousins in Virginia. She will also be remembered by her brothers-in-law, William Jennings Bryan Medley and wife Sandra and John Britton Medley and wife Paula who she loved deeply; nieces and nephews, Carson Drew Medley and Gary Britton Medley, Angie, Christy, Buffy and Mandi, Angie and Shay; and special cousins, Dale, Scott, Chris, and their wives and friend. A true animal lover, Susan will be missed by her cat, Ludie and pet fish, Dare.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on her birthday at 2:00pm Saturday, June 01, 2013 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Porter and Rev. Joe Price officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service.
