Dollie Rae Langley Bradley, age 81, was granted her angel wings on April 26, 2014. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Dollie had touched throughout her very memorable life. She passed away peacefully at the home of her eldest daughter, Pam.
The Guest Book is expired.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Richard Bradley Jr,; son, Raymond Richard Bradley III; and sister, MaeBelle Langley Freeland.
Born in Nash County on September 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Jasper Frank Langley and Cebra Parker Langley. She was named affectionately by her mother, who legend has it, said she was her "doll baby".
Dollie drove the school bus in the 1940s and graduated from Nashville High School. She attended Park View where she studied radiology. She enjoyed working as a radiologist at Park View until she married her true love, R.R. Bradley Jr. Then her fairy tale began with starting a family and home in Whitakers NC. She was an asset to her community and an active member of Whitakers United Methodist Church.
Dollie Rae dedicated her life to the care and nurturing of her family. She loved being a wife, mother and grandmother and mastered the art of all three roles. Her home and yard were her pride and joy, with a garden of Eden in her own back yard. Her grapes, cherries, peaches, blackberries, blueberries and figs along with a glorious garden were a highlight in the earlier years. Freezing and canning was a given in the Bradley home and a hobby Dollie Rae embraced. An avid cook, she was an expert in the kitchen. Her many talents have since been passed down to her daughters to continue. She loved bird watching, spending time with her grandchildren and reading her Bible. Her faith in God never waivered as she lived a wholesome Christian life. Her children and grandchildren were Dollie Rae's world. She was their rock, always steadfast.
Dollie Rae loved and cherished her family, both immediate and extended; rarely missing a Langley family reunion and contributing to every family gathering. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Pam Bradley Phillips (Stephen) of Rocky Mount and Tracy Suzanne Bradley (Bo Woody) of Whitakers; grandchildren, Bradley, Ann Catherine and Hannah Phillips, Joshua Wright and Jacob Wardsworth; and brother, Jasper "Little Jack" Frank Langley (Darlene) of West Palm Beach FL. She will also be remembered by her in-laws, Jean Brooks, Marvin and Eva Bradley; and special sister-in-law, Frances Woodard.
A gathering of friends and family will be held 6:00pm – 8:00pm Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the home of Dollie Rae Bradley in Whitakers. A service of remembrance will be at 11:00am Wednesday morning at Whitakers United Methodist Church with Rev. Barbara High Tyre, Dr. Stephen E. Bradley and Rev. Kirk Woodard officiating. Burial will follow at Whitakers Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the
or the Whitakers United Methodist Church.
