Junior Winstead went home to be with his LordJuly 15, 2014. He was born in Nash County onSeptember 7, 1939to the late Otha F. Winstead, Sr. and Sallie Weaver. Junior was a loving Christian man who dearly loved his family. He enjoyed hunting and he loved his beagles. Junior spent many years singing gospel music with many groups. He was also known for his many years of ministry on radio and television programs. His work for the Lord will continue through his memory.
Junior is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Rackley Winstead; 2 sons, Jerry S. Winstead and wife Cheryl of Raleigh and Ricky D. Winstead of Rocky Mount; daughter Cheryl Ann Hagan and husband Ricky of Rocky Mount; two grandchildren, Brittany Stafford of Rocky Mount and Taylor Winstead of Raleigh; two step-granddaughters, Devon King of Raleigh and Heather Jett of Rocky Mount; two great grandchildren, Cheyenne Riley of Nashville and Hailey Chappell; and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be Friday,July 18, 2014from 6:00-8:00 pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Woody Jones and Rev. Blake Stallings officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
