STANLEY - George Lunis Boone, Jr., 70, of 115 Airport Road, died July 30, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Edgecombe County, son of the late George Lunis Boone Sr., and Eva Christine Collins Boone. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, was a member of Craig Memorial Baptist Church in Stanley, and was retired from senior management after many years with Hardees and their former parent company Boddie-Noell.
Survivors include his wife Sandra Bumgarner Boone, two sons Larry Boone of Newton, Wayne Boone of Morganton, a daughter Georgette Babcock of Newton, five grandsons Matthew Boone of Germany, Mark Isaac, Glenn Boone and Blake Pack all of Newton, Justice Boone of Morganton, three granddaughters Samantha Pack of Newton, Jewel and Justine Boone both of Morganton, a great grandson Mason Isaac of Newton, step children Cliff and Brandon Armstrong both of Lincolnton, Dana Armstrong of Clyde, NC, step grandchildren Amber Dorame and Joseph Armstrong both of Lincolnton, Dylan Armstrong of Locust, NC, a great granddaughter Savannah Dorame of Lincolnton, a sister Christine B. Riley of Nashville, NC, and two nieces Sheri L. Riley of Raleigh, Elizabeth Battlecone and husband Dan of Pine Ridge, NC.
The funeral service conducted by the Reverends Gary and Trent Rankin will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Craig Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will follow at a later date in the Mount Holly Cemetery.
