Bishop Barnes Obituary
Bishop Faircloth "FC" Barnes, age 82 of Wilson NC., formerly of Rocky Mount, NC., passed away on Monday, July 11, 2011 at the Pitt Memorial Hospital-Heart Center, in Greenville, NC. Homegoing celebration will be held Saturday 11:00 am at Red Budd Holy Church, 1108 Luper Street, Rocky Mount, NC. Pastor Eva Darden will officiate. Interment will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane of Rocky Mount.
Public viewing will take place Friday from 2-5 pm at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 726 Tarboro Street, SW., Wilson. A memorial service will take place at 7:00 pm later in the evening at Red Budd Holy Church. A final visitation will take place Saturday morning from 9-10:30 am at the church.
He was preceded in death by his; mother, father, one daughter, one brother, and a special nephew.
Loving memories are forever cherished by; his loving and devoted wife, Addrine Gaskins Barnes, four sons, Samuel (Darnella), Luther (Cynthia), Melvin (Martha), and Tony (Renee); two daughters, Demita (James) and Valencia; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one god-daughter, Cassandra Hammonds; four brothers, five sisters, two uncles, one aunt, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and freinds. Special recognition to his step-mother, Naomi Strange and the entire Strange Family and always remembering the late Oscar Strange, Jr.
Caring and professional service have been entrusted to Hamilton Funeral Chapel of Wilson.All floral arrangements are to be sent to Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 726 Tarboro Street, SW., Wilson NC 27893.

God Is Good, and he knows the heart of each and every one of us. I was totally blown away to find out the Bishop FC Barnes made his transition. He has gone to much better place. To Luther Barnes and Family, I just learned of the earthly demise of your father on yesterday, July 17th. I happened to be traveling in the Nashville, NC area and read an article in the newspaper about Bishop FC Barnes. It just didn't click with me while reading the article that he had passed. I am so sorry. He was a "giant" spirit, that has blessed so many people. I have quite a few of Luther's CD's, especially the one where he does a series of renditions of songs honoring his father. I will always cherish this. I feel so blessed to have had contact with Luther a few years ago. He helped our agency out with a fund raiser. May God continue to give you the strength you need to perservere.

My maternal grandmother's favorite song was "Rough Side of the Mountain". When she passed in November 1999, our Church's senior choir (of which she was a member) sang that song during her funeral. I will always have fond memories of seeing and hearing her sing that song whenever it was played on the radio. May God continue to allow both Bishop FC Barnes and Mama to rest in peace.
