James Warren Blackburn, 80, went home to be with his Lord on March 8, 2013. He was born March 6, 1933 to the late Fred and Faye Blackburn. He was also preceded in death by his brother and two sisters, Herbert Blackburn, Dorothy Pridgen and Marie Bass. James proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy where he was stationed on the U S S Bremerton. He worked for Coca Cola Company for 19 years and pastored the Evangel Christian Fellowship Church for 20 years. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his church, his family, and friends, and enjoyed listening to gospel music. His family was honored to celebrate James` 80th birthday with him along with a gathering of family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 42 years, Diania Blackburn; two sons, Warren Blackburn Jr. and wife Melody, Jeff Blackburn and wife Tonya; two daughters, Deborah Hill and husband Wayne, Renee Taylor and husband Mack; grandchildren, Jonathan Blackburn, Lauren Jones, Nathan Blackburn, Sarah Carroll, Alycia Taylor, and Ashlyn and Ethan Blackburn. James also has 5 great-grandchildren, and his special pet, "Buddy".
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
