Lois Dahlberg Geiger, 87, passed away August 29, 2013 at her home in California, Calif. Born October 29, 1925 in Auburn, Calif., to Robert Eugene Dahlberg and Alverta Pearl Heiple. She attended Lincoln Way School and graduated from Placer High School in Auburn in 1943. Following high school she attended Armstrong Business College in Berkley, Calif. She then returned to Auburn and worked for her father at Johnson Hardware.
In 1946 she married Albert Geiger from Applegate, Calif. Albert was in the U.S. Army Air Corp and stationed at Wendover, Utah. After Albert's discharge from the service they returned to Auburn where she lived for the remainder of her life. Lois and Albert were married nearly 58 years until Albert's death in 2004. Both of their daughters were also born and raised in Auburn.
Lois was an active member of the Pioneer Methodist Church where she sang in the choir until a few years ago. She was the longest surviving member of the Methodist Church until her passing.
In her youth she was a member of the Auburn Rainbow Girls and Camp Fire Girls. While raising her daughters she taught Sunday school and was a group leader for both Blue Birds and Camp Fire Girls. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, knitting, reading, bird watching, making copper jewelry and supporting her daughters in their multiple school, social and club activities. In their retirement years she loved traveling with husband Albert in taking multiple trips in their travel trailer to various U.S. destinations in addition to driving through Mexico and cruising through the Panama Canal, Alaska and the Caribbean.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Albert, parents, Robert and Pearl Dahlberg and sisters, Annabell Smyth and Dorothy Owen.
She is survived by her daughters Jo Anne Geiger Young of Grangeville, Idaho, Sharon (Frank) Geiger Mascola of Reedley, Calif., three grandsons David (Chivana) Young, Danny (Michelle) Mascola, Dominic (Samantha) Mascola, brother Eugene (Irene) Dahlberg and several nieces and nephews.
A family graveside service was held at the New Auburn Cemetery on Saturday September 14, 2013. Charitable remembrances may be made in Lois' name to Shriner Children's Fund (Shriner Children's Hospital), American Heart Association or charity of your choice.
