Laura Ann Machholz
3/9/1955 to 9/23/2013
Laura Ann Machholz left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on September 23, 2013, the result of a stroke.
Laura was born in Los Gatos, California on March 9, 1955, the first of three children born to Stan and Edith Zarcone. After graduating from Los Gatos High School, she earned a Bachelors degree in Marine Biology from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.
Laura was employed by Syntex Pharmacuticals from 1978 until 1990, when the family moved to Colfax, Calif. She was a homemaker until earning her Pharmacy Technician License in 2005. Laura was employed at the local Target and CVS stores, where customers grew accustomed to her cheerful smile and helpful attitude.
It was at church in Los Gatos that she met her future husband, Don. They were married for 33 years. They have two sons, Mathew and Mark.
Laura was active in her church, teaching Sunday School and directing Vacation Bible School, and was a student of numerous Bible studies. Her faith in Jesus Christ was important to her, and she is in His presence today.
A Type 1 Diabetic for 44 years, Laura suffered several strokes in recent years which limited her ability to enjoy cooking, gardening and raising small farm animals. In her final year she was cared for at home by her husband and caregiver Teresa Ross.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Stan Zarcone, in 2006.
She is survived by her husband, Don, her two sons, Matthew and Mark, and sisters Lynn and Diane.
A memorial service will be held for her on October 5, 2013, at Auburn Grace Community Church, 3126 Olympic Way, Auburn, Calif., at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made in Laura's name to the charity of your choice, or to the American Stroke Association.

Don, I just heard of Laura's passing and I will miss her. I hope she meets up with Judy in heaven and they have some good times. Laura was a person that made you smile and I remember our dinners and parties with fond memories. Although I know you will miss her, she will make Heaven even more glorious. May God comfort you.

When I look at that photo of Laura, my thought is that her smile matches her personality. She had the most bubbly personality, and I will miss her a lot, but I know she is happy with the Lord now and I will see her again. Praying for you Don, Matt, and Mark.
