Dorothy Wagner Obituary

Dorothy "Dottie" DeVore Wagner
8/22/1927 - 11/5/2012
PHOTO

Dottie passed away peacefully on November 5, 2012. She grew up in Auburn, graduating from Placer High School in 1945. Dottie and her family moved to Hawaii in 1961. She loved living near the beach, participated in local Hawaii plays and worked in the Legislature, but eventually moved back to Auburn. Dottie was a gentle, loving woman, who also loved cooking, golfing, painting, sculpting, and designing homes … but more than anything else, she loved to dance. We all have a smile on our face picturing Dottie dancing to her heart's content in Heaven.
Dottie is preceded in death by her father, Earl DeVore; mother, Doris DeVore Pritchard; brother, Spike DeVore and grandson, Jason Bogle. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Rudy Wagner; her children: Paul Jacobs (Ila), Joanna Guard (Paul) and Jay Jacobs (Becki); and her step-children: Ken Wagner (Dyan) and Richard Wagner (Sue). Dottie is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in Hawaii, where Dottie wished her ashes to be laid with her father's ashes.
The family would like to thank Sutter Auburn Faith's 2nd floor staff and Sutter Faith Hospice for their compassionate and kind endcare, as well as everyone at Oakwood Village (assisted living) for providing her with loving care during the past year. My very deepest sympathy.
Paul, Joanna, and JJ, I loved your Mom and I am so saddened by her death. Your Mom was such an important part
of my life even though we have lived far apart. Your parents trusted me to care for their three most valued possessions, you three kids.
Your Mom was beyond special and there are no words to adequately express that. My heart is broken today. All my love.

Dear Rudy, So so sorry to learn of Dottie's death. I pray you will be ok. My husband died in January 2012 and I miss Jim more every day.
We had 50 wonderful years together, but some how it never seems enough. Please let me know if I can help you in anyway.

Rudy, Jay, Joanna and families,

It has been over 44 years since I first met Dottie. I remember her being pretty, very friendly, engaging and she made me feel very comfortable. Over the years, I had the pleasure of visiting with her and Rudy on many occasions, and always found her to be consistantly the same. She was a very special person and I feel she always added a positive and warm touch to any situation. May the many fond memories of her keep you and her other loved ones company over the years to come.

Warmly,

Fred Vitas and family
