William Leland Speakman was born in Absorkee Montana, spending most of his youth in Northern Mo. He was the second oldest of 12 children, all but two sisters have preceded him in death. His remaining two siblings are Goldie Miller of Princeton Mo., and Carol Hulme of Knox Ind.
William was a World War II Veteran; after the war, he moved to Kansas City, Mo., where he started working at General Motors. One night while at a local dance he met Helen Lucile Moore. They married shortly after and William became a father to her six year old boy, William Fowler Jr., together William and Helen had a daughter, Joyce. They remained in Kansas City until 2000, when they moved to California to be near family. William lost Helen in 2001 after 52 years of marriage.
William lived with his daughter Joyce Jones since moving to Calif. William had four grandchildren: Angela Kuns, Connie Laipple (Loren), Jennifer Beauchamp (Jason) and Justin Jones, six great-grandchildren; Chelse Johnston, Mackenzie Laipple, Taylor Kuns, Zakary Kuns, Bryce Beauchamp, Kelsi Beauchamp, and one great-great grandchild, Berkeley Jo Laipple. He is preceded in death by his step-son William
Services will be held in Kansas City Mo.
