William R. Nicholls passed away on December 7, 2012 in Auburn California after a brief illness. He was born to Phillip and Dorothy (Salisburg) Nicholls in Berkeley, California, and served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948. Bill worked as a salesman for Munson Sporting Goods until his retirement. Bill and his wife of 62 years, Dellora, raised 4 sons in Auburn California, where he was known as "Da Mayor of Ophir."
Bill enjoyed golfing and spending time at his homes in Auburn and Carnelian Bay. After retirement, Dellora and Bill lived in Oakmont, California, until he returned to Auburn in 2011.
He is preceded in death by his wife Dellora and one half brother. He is survived by his 4 sons, Robert Haworth (Judi), William M. Nicholls, James Nicholls, and John Nicholls (Sharyse), his half brother, Stanley Swift, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. At his request, no service will be held.
