Vic Freeland, Jr., a lifelong Placer County resident, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Dutch Flat at the age of 61.
Vic was born in Auburn on February 4, 1951 to Victor and Evelyn Freeland. He attended grammar school in Alta and Colfax High School. He grew up in the Baxter's-Crystal Springs area and in his adult years moved to Dutch Flat.
He worked for forty years as a truck driver for Robinson Timber, and R.J. Miles, Co. of Colfax. For many years he was also known to neighbors in the Dutch Flat area for his driveway snowplowing services, using his beloved Chevrolet Pickup.
Vic is survived by his loving companion of 20 years, Judy Davenport of Dutch Flat, also her son Lance Davenport of Ione; mother, Evelyn Freeland of Weimar; sisters, Diane Hughes of Weimar and Connie Rodger of Cottonwood; daughter, Amy Arant (husband, Tony) of Colfax; and grandchildren: Lance Jr., Cierra, Katie, Haley, Tanner and Travis; uncle and aunt, Donald and Dolores Sauer of Meadow Vista; aunts, Leah Faith of Sacramento and Doris Norris of Reno. He also leaves six nieces and nephews and many friends from the Dutch Flat area.
A Memorial Service is to be held at Dutch Flat Community Center in Dutch Flat on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11 a.m., with Potluck to follow.

Dear Little Brother,
A light has gone out of my life. I will always cherish childhood memories of our times together, playing board games, and babysitting you in the apple orchard and on our front lawn. You always made me smile. I wish I could go back in time to spend more time with you as you got older, but you were always loved.
I am proud of you little brother and we miss you.
