Bette Marguerite Denton, 87, of Thermopolis, Wyo., died September 2, 2010.
Daughter of Lee and Marguerite Allee Cotten. She married Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Denton and they moved many times until he retired from the U.S. Navy after 31 years. They moved to Colfax, Calif., in 1968 and Woody had three service stations in Auburn. They RV'd together and took several cruises together and made many friends wherever they went. Bette was always "the Hostess with the Mostest". Her home was always open to everyone, no matter if family, friend or even strangers. She made everything look so easy and made everyone feel like family. She loved to dance and to travel, even traveling around the world several times after her husband passed away. Bette moved to Wyo., in 1993 and built a home overlooking the Big Horn River. She was an avid reader, after her eyesight failed she listened to many hours of Audio Books provided by the Society for the Blind and spent many hours on her front porch watching the river run past.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 39 years; her parents and her brother Bob.
Bette is survived by her daughters, Karen (Jim) Wegmann of Colfax, Calif., "Snook" Denton of Wyo., Mary Lou Boone of Grass Valley, Calif., and son David (Cindy) of Wyo.: her sister-in-law, Mary Allee, seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial services were held in Thermopolis, Wyo.
