Catherine Ann "Nan" Slane
The Guest Book is expired.
Catherine "Nan" Slane passed away peacefully surrounded by her six children. She was born in Cedar, Michigan to Anthony and Anne Tarchinski, the youngest of six children. Nan married George Slane and they spent 58 years together. In 1962, she and George moved the family from Traverse City, Michigan to Auburn, where they raised their children.
Throughout her life, she was both beautiful inside and out, giving graciously and unselfishly to the family she adored. More inclined to lend an ear than dominate the conversation and boast, she was the kind of women who listened and supported those around her with a heart warming smile. She was funny and outgoing, full of laughter and fun in social settings.
She had an inherent talent for music and drama, performing in high school, and later sang as part of a Sweet Adeline Quartet. She took up the game of golf and became an active member of the women's golf club at Auburn Valley Country Club. She was proud to have served on the Placer County Grand Jury.
Her loving legacy and her greatest joy came from the blessed bond of family which include 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by children Liz Miller (Mark) of Santa Cruz, Chris Slane (Margaret) of Auburn, Susan Slane of Auburn, Jon Slane of Redding, Carol French (Greg) of Auburn, Dave Slane (Caryn) of Auburn.
Services will be held Wednesday July 10, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Auburn.
