1928 - 2014
Born November 26, 1928, Dale, at the age of 85, passed peacefully on March 24, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia, of Loomis, Daughter Lynn Young, of Citrus Heights; Grandpa of Charles and Danielle Young, Papa of Great-Grandchildren Hunter and Levi Bennett; and Elijah Young; sister Helen Mae Hansmeier of Iowa, Brother Kieran Anderson of Loomis, and many Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Arch and Mabel Anderson of Minn.; daughter Daylene Wood of Clear Lake; and brothers Duane of North Highlands, and Jim of Australia.
Dale was born in Iowa and attended school there. After High School in 1946, he joined the US Army. He served in Korea as a Medical Lab Tech and was awarded the World War II victory medal and Army of Occupation Medal, Japan. After his discharge in 1947 he attended Chico State College from 1949 to 1952. He married Virginia Hundley in 1952 and they lived in North Highlands until 1963 when they moved to Loomis. He began teaching at Washington Unified School District in West Sacramento in 1957, teaching 6, 7, and 8th grades for 31 years and retired in 1988. In the 1960's he was very active in forming the Nor. Cal. Girls Softball and coaching Five Cities Girls Softball.
Services for Dale will be held on April 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., at East Lawn Memorial Park, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, Calif. After internment a celebration of life will be held at Brookfield's Restaurant, 4343 Madison Ave., Sacramento. If you wished, in lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the Spalding Community Church, 687-905 Lakeview Dr. Susanville, Ca, 96130; the Loomis Raley's Food for Families program; or any other charity of your choosing.
