David G. Strawhecker
10/30/1939 - 10/16/2010



Dave passed away just before his 71st birthday. Born in Sacramento, Calif. Son to Marvin H. and Ida G. Strawhecker and younger brother to Carol. As a boy he was an avid outdoors man, active in Boy Scouts, fishing, hunting and hiking. Dave attended McClatchy High School in Sacramento, Calif. and then enlisted in the US Army Reserves. Dave was an electrician and then an electrical contractor until his retirement.
Dave and Joyce were married for 50 years and parents to Robert and Scott. He and Joyce were both supporters of scouting and baseball. In 1975 they moved their family to Newcastle, Calif. Dave and Joyce loved owning and caring for Thorough Bred Race Horses. Dave continued to hunt, fish, dive and explore the Sierras. He had a deep love for mining and mining camps and their history. Dave and Jim R. hiked from Soda Springs to Colfax via The Royal Gorge twice. Dave and Joyce traveled the world together. He was a proud member of Auburn Elks.
Dave is survived by his wife Joyce, mother in law Gladys Farmer, his sister Carol Ansolobehere, his son Robert and wife Kathleen, his children Stephanie, Michael, Tobias, Amador, Christian Christal, his son Scott and wife and Tammy, sons Mark USAF airman A1C, Brian US Army PFC and Bradlee.
There will be a gathering for family and friends at the Auburn Elks on Sunday November 7, 2010, at 2 p.m. for family and friends to talk and laugh. If you should feel the need to give please give to the charity of your choice.

I am sorry to hear of Dave's passing. He was a wonderful "full of life" guy. I enjoyed training race horses for he and Joyce. They were our "favorite" owners! We had lots of fun times winning races. May the love of your family and friends help to carry you through this sad time.
