Doris Mae Finley Yourd passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 1, 2013 at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital in Auburn, Calif. She was 78.

Doris is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Wayne Yourd; step-son, Michael Yourd; sisters, Drotha (Jackie) Cunningham, Rachel Cunningham, and Vera Costan; brother-in-laws, Gothie Green, Robert Cunningham, Cliff Cunningham Jr. and Lawrence (Johnny) Johnston; and sister-in-law, Oleta Finley. She is survived by her immediate family, Jon Yourd (Phyllis) of Foresthill; Jennifer Yourd Murray (Leonard) of Columbus, North Carolina; and David Cunningham (Debbie) of Sacramento. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Hazel Yourd; her sisters, Iva Green, Erva Johnston, and Sue Beevers (Ted); brother, Jay Finley; brother-in-law, Ray Costan; sister-in-law, Gwen Wallis (Larry); nine grandchildren: Kristi (Kenny) Backus, Nick (Alecia) Murray, Grace, Julia, and Sam Murray, Zane (Brianna) Lemas, Keeley (Italo) Ciccarelli, Bobby and Shannon Cunningham; and two great-grandsons: Liam Lemas and Bryant Murray. Doris dearly loved and is loved by all her family including many extended family members who are not mentioned here.
Doris graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1952, worked for the Calif. Dept. of Justice for 10 years, and married Wayne Yourd on April 8, 1961 at her family church in Sacramento. Doris continued to be a person of deep faith throughout her life.
Doris and Wayne were wonderful parents! They deeply loved each other and the four children they raised: Michael, David, Jonathan, and Jennifer. They loved the ocean and the mountains, and the family enjoyed camping at both. They encouraged the children's participation in activities of their choice which included basketball, motocross, NASCAR racing etc. Doris' love of her family also led her into photography, genealogy, and having a yearly vegetable garden after they moved to Meadow Vista in 1971. After the children were grown, Doris worked for Continental Insurance until Wayne and she retired and moved to the North Carolina coast. In December 2000, they returned to Foresthill. After Wayne passed away in 2001, Doris lived with her daughter, Jenny, in Columbus, N.C. and near her sons, Jon and David in Foresthill.

Doris was an especially warm, generous, genuine, loving person. She will always be loved and deeply missed by her family and many friends! A celebration of her life will be held on Sun. Jan.20 at 12 noon at the Foresthill Memorial Hall, 24601 Harrison St. (Travel East on Foresthill Rd. Turn left on Soap St. The Memorial Hall is on Soap and Harrison.) A potluck meal will follow the service.
