The Guest Book is expired.
Jerry passed away peacefully on September 25, 2013 with his family at his side in Folsom, California. Jerry was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on April 1, 1933 and was raised in Worthington, Minnesota by his parents Arthur and Emma Sather. At the age of 18, his family moved to Modesto, Calif. where he graduated from Modesto High School and attended Modesto Jr. College. Jerry soon met the love of his life, Muriel Vlach and married on July 9, 1956. They recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Jerry went on to have a very successful career with Pacific Telephone in Modesto, Calif., and was transfered to AT&T in the Sacramento area in 1964.
Jerry was involved in many organizations: the Masonic Lodge Tehema #3, Kiwanis, Folsom Historical Society, AT&T Pioneers and the Markleeville Historical Society. Both Jerry and Muriel loved to travel and participated in AT&T Pioneer "Good Will Santa Tours" dressing up as Mr & Mrs Claus, visiting orphanages, schools and convalescent homes. Their many destinations included Eastern and Western Europe as well as parts of Asia. They also enjoyed many cruises and trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Alaska, England, Ireland and Scotland. Golf was Jerry's passion. Wherever he was in his travels through out the world, he planned a "tee-time" for a round of golf. After Jerry's retirement, you could find him on the golf course from 9 to 5 at the Rancho Murieta Country Club. Jerry was well-known for his repertoire of jokes and wonderful sense of humor. He was a kind, wonderful and generous man.
Our beloved Jerry will be forever missed by his wife Muriel, daughter Cynthia and son Bryan (Jackie), grandchildren; William, Rachel and Brent and close family friend Rick Luttrell. He will also be missed by his sister Janice Tow of Sumers, Mont., family of Round Lake, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Our special thanks to Dr. Robert DeBruin, Pam Visathep NP, Sunny Hills Care Facility II (Gabriel and staff), and VITAS (Hospice) staff for their caring support.
