John E. Hanson

John was born in Oakland, Calif. He married his high school, sweetheart, Jean Campbell in 1942. They were long time residence of Piedmont Calif., and later resided in Dutch Flat Calif., in their retiring years.
John was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Jean C. Hanson and is survived by his son, Jack (Darcy) Hanson of Susanville, Calif.; daughters, Geri Mathewson (Dave) of Ashland Ore., and Diana Hanson of Dutch Flat Calif., grandsons, Wyatt and Bradford Hanson of Susanville, Calif., and his brother, Neville "Buster" Hanson of Atwater Calif.
John graduated from Piedmont High School where he was an outstanding athlete. He briefly attended UC Berkeley before entering the US Army. He served in World War II as an aide to General Brush, then retired as a Captain in the Artillery. John had a distinguished career as an insurance broker in San Francisco for 50 years, first with Campbell Oakell and then Alexander and Alexander, retiring as a Senior VP. He served on many community and business boards and was a member of Claremont Country Club, The Bohemian Club and the Pacific Union Club.
John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was an extremely generous man with a terrific sense of humor. He loved his friends, gardening, reading and the outdoors as well as ranching, which he pursed in his later life.
