Marcella Bendzulla Obituary

Marcella (Hopfinger) Bendzulla died from complications due to cancer on September 10, 2013 with her family at her side. She was 75 years old. Marcella was born on September 14, 1937 in Krummau Germany; she was the daughter of Franz Hopfinger and Theresia Hager. Marcella married Horst Bendzulla on October 2, 1959 in Berlin, Germany, moving to Southern California in January of 1960. In 1972 they moved their family to Auburn, Calif. Marcella's greatest passion was her family; raising two daughters and one son. She enjoyed many hobbies, such as gardening, sewing bowling, tennis, and golfing. She especially loved planting and cultivating roses. Marcella and Horst enjoyed frequent travels to Europe visiting family and places of family history. They also enjoyed trips to Russia, Alaska, and many other places. Marcella was a member of the LDS Church, Lake of the Pines Ward.
Marcella is survived by: her husband of 53 years, Horst Dieter Bendzulla, daughters Sylvia Lewis and Sonja McEntee, and five grandchildren. She is also survived by five sisters and one brother and many nieces and nephews living in Bavaria and Austria.
Marcella will be long remembered as someone who saw the good in everyone. She loved her family immensely and unconditionally. Everyone who had the privilege to know Marcella felt her goodness and warmth. She will be greatly missed.
A viewing for Marcella will be held on September 19th, 2013 at 9am at the Lassila Funeral Chapel, with the service to begin at 10am, and a reception to follow immediately after. Graveside services will be limited to a small family gathering.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the American Cancer Society, or to Bristol Hospice California.
