Patricia "Pat" McKendry
08/14/30 - 11/04/13

Patricia Dolores McKendry passed away peacefully in Morgan Hill in the comfort of her home and her family's love. Pat was born and raised in Millbrae, Calif., to Earl and Mary McCain, the third of four children and was educated at San Mateo High School. As a young girl she showed a great affinity and affection for horses, which lasted all throughout her life. After high school Pat married, had three children, and put her passion for horses on hold. In 1970, she and her husband, Jay, moved from San Mateo to Morgan Hill, Calif and began their Curley Horse Ranch. With her Curley Horse, she participated in six Rose Parade's with other Curley Horse owner's. And with her favorite Appaloosa horse, Polka, she competed in many competitive 50 and 100 mile endurance trail rides including her passion, the 100 mile Tevis ride which she completed nine times. Pat was well liked and respected by all in the horse community and was always ready to help a new horse owner/rider. Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Jay McKendry and brother's Gene MacLean and Earl (Husky) McCain. She leaves behind her sister Peggy O'Brien, children Dolores, Greg, and Judy, Grandson Gregory and Great Grandson Mickey Jay McKendry. According to Mom's wishes there will be no funeral or memorial service. Her ashes will be scattered by the family.
