Salas, Ted, husband of Bernice Salas, son of Ursula Vigil and Rafael Salas, died at 2:30 December 5, 2012.
Ted was born on December 14, 1922 in Folsom, New Mexico. Ted spent his younger days in Trinidad, Colorado. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Chandeleur, USS Dixie, USNAB EBON and USS O'BANNON (DD450). Ted served in the American Theatre, Phillipines Liberation earning a Bronze Star, Asiac -Pacific earning four Bronze Stars and a Victory Medal World War II. His love of farming and raising cattle caused him to move the family to Lincoln in 1964. Ted was a member of the Wheatland Community Church. he will most be remembered for his love of God, family and friends, and most important of all his desire to work hard and always help those in need. He will be greatly missed for his wonderful sweet smile and his great sense of humor. He is a true hero to all of us and was the best role model we could have had as a Husband, Father and Popo as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bernice and their children: son, David Gorden, daughters, Teresa (Warren) Bostick, Sharon (Barry) Barnes; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday December 12th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wheatland Community Church with Pastor John Burns Officiating. Burial with Military Honors followed services at the Manzanita District Cemetery.Pallbearers were: Brad, John and Mike Bostick, Brian Sovenski, Doug McBane and Rich Lightle.
