Mildred Mae (Stevens) Van Camp

Mildred Mae (Stevens) Van Camp, age 95, of Lincoln and Rocklin, Calif., passed away on March 26, 2013 after a short illness. She was born in Pierce Colo., Nebraska on June 22, 1917. In the early 1940's she moved to Los Angeles where she met her husband, Harry Van Camp while working in shipyards building Liberty transport ships for World War II.
They raised their family in Torrance, a suburb of LA. When her kids were nearly grown, Millie entered the aerospace industry with Hughes Aircraft. She worked on several Intell Satellites and the Lunar Lander and was very proud of this work
After retirement they moved to Northern California in the mid 1970's. They lived in Napa, and North Sacramento before settling in Rocklin. She had to give up her independence at age 90 and moved to Lincoln., Calif.
Millie enjoyed bowling, traveling, fishing, camping, handicrafts and cake decorating. She made 4-tier 50th Anniversary wedding cakes for both her parents and Harry's. She missed celebrating their 50th anniversary by six months when Harry died in 1993.
Mildred is survived by a son, a daughter, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who loved her and will miss her.
A Rosary will be prayed for her at the Price Funeral Chapel, Citrus Heights, Calif., on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 6 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Sacramento.
