John Kenneth Sr. 87 of Roseville, Calif., passed away on January 17, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Known as Kenneth by his family.
He was born on February 24, 1926 in Deloit, Iowa. Ken was the eldest of two sons born to John Peter and Pearl Silvia Holihan. He lived in Iowa until 1941, when his family moved to Roseville, Calif. After graduating from Roseville High School, Ken served in the Navy during World War II. Ken married the love of his life on March 25, 1950 in Reno Nev. He worked as a machinist for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 48 years and served as Financial Secretary for District 19. Ken also served on the volunteer Fire Department. For many years Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, square dancing, bowling, playing cards and billiards. He will be best remembered for his love of life, sense of humor, and for telling stories and jokes.
Ken was survived by his loving wife of 63 years Eula Faye. Faye passed away on April 30, 2014 with her loving family at her side. Faye was born on December 24, 1932 in Clovis N.M. She was the third oldest of six children born to Lee Andrew and Mattie Lucille Terry.
Faye moved to Calif., in 1948 where she met the love of her life Ken. After earning her Associates Degree, Faye was employed by the Los Rios Jr. College District. She also did home daycare. Faye loved decorating cakes for special occasions, including wedding cakes. Faye and Ken belonged to a Pinochle group for years. Faye enjoyed many years of volunteering for Senior Gleaners. Faye and Ken enjoyed many forms of travel including wonderful adventures in their fifth wheel and taking cruises all over the world. They also had great family reunion trips to Hawaii with Faye’s sisters, brothers and cousins.
Faye was an amazing woman, wife, and mother. She fought through many years of illnesses. Her Doctor's didn’t think she would see 70, but through her strong will to live and her love for her family, she lived to be 81.
Faye and Ken are survived and greatly missed by three daughters, Pamella Keil, Patricia Newton (Randy), Terri Wickham (Ron), and one son, John Holihan (Sheri), 11 Grandchildren, and one Great Grandchild. Faye is survived by sisters Terry FitzGerald, Karen Steinka (Ferrous), and brother Cliff Terry (Millie).
A Memorial Service celebrating their lives will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, 109 Washington Blvd. in Roseville, Calif.
