HUGHLING ALDERK BLUMEYER, 75 OREGON - Hughling Alderk Blumeyer, 75, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 24, 1939, in Oregon; the son of Elmer and Grace (Bulthaus) Blumeyer. He graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1957. Hugh married Beryl Smith on Sept. 11, 1960, in Oregon. They had been married for 53 years. He served in the Army Reserves. Hugh's faith was very important to him and he was a lifelong member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church, where he served as Deacon and Elder. Hugh loved being with his family and enjoyed sharing his knowledge and wisdom. He was quite the historian. Hugh was a lifelong farmer in rural Oregon where he raised hogs, corn, and soybeans. He was a member of the Farm Service where he had served on the Board of Directors. Hugh enjoyed auctions, not only for the treasures he would find, but for all the friends he made throughout the years. Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Grace Blumeyer, and sister, Ruth Ann. He is survived by his wife, Beryl of Oregon; daughter, Deborah (Jeff) Wells of Stillman Valley; son, John (Janet) Blumeyer of Oregon; sister, Delores (Steve) Mosiman of Dubuque, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Joshua and Robert Wells, Tara Blumeyer, Russell and Jeneen Schier; aunt, Josephine Maas; and uncle, Donald Blumeyer. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the Ebenezer Reformed Church, with the Rev. Brion Brooks officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th St., Oregon, IL. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
