DAVID 'ARTHUR' BAYLIS, 71 ROCKFORD - David "Arthur" Baylis, 71, of Rockford died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at home. Born Aug. 3, 1941, in Rock Falls, the son of Lawrence and Evelyn (Bryant) Baylis. He was raised on a farm in Muscoda, Wis. Graduated from Newman High School in Sterling, Ill., and served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Korea. Married his loving wife, Joanne Finan on Jan. 22, 1977, at the Cathedral of St. Peter. Worked for various businesses in Rockford in data processing and retired from Tru-Serv in Harvard as a database administrator in 1998. He is a member of the Cathedral of St. Peter, Boy Scouts of America and the Korean War Veterans Association. Survivors include his wife, Joanne; children, Kathleen Baylis, Lawrence (Adriane) Baylis and Carolyn (David) Harris; grandchildren, Joseph and William Baylis; sister, Damaris (Clarence) Wilkinson; nieces and nephews, Sonya (Lyle) Schilpp, Craig (Sue) Wilkinson, Eric Wilkinson and Bruce (Peggy) Wilkinson. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, William. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, at Cathedral of St. Peter. Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., with a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation also from 9:30 a.m. Friday to time of prayer at 10:15 a.m. at the church. Joanne, my wife and I pray that you and your family find comfort in your time of grief in our heavenly Father's arms. Art was such a nice guy and it was my privilege to know him as a friend and classmate. It was always nice to see you both at our class reunions. May he rest in peace. Class of "59".
