EDWARD ARTHUR LAST, 63 ROCKFORD - Edward Arthur Last, 63, died Saturday, March 22, 2014. Born November 20, 1950, in Rockford to John and Helen (Baker) Last. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, bicycling and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Survivors include son, Michael Wight; daughters, Anna (Patrick) Ott, Julie (Kenneth) Farmer, Stephanie (Brian) Merten; 13 grandchildren; brother, Charles (Joanne) Last; sisters, Maryann (Jim) Leonard, Karin (Mandy) Ditto, and Judy (John) Miller. Predeceased by brother, John Last. Private burial services will be held in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Memorials may be given to the family. sorry to hear of Ed's passing. we had often crossed paths in the past and I always liked Ed. I remember the last time I saw him, we talked about the future and he had hoped that things would get better. I never saw him again after that. I hope that the things we talked about did get better. I can't believe your gone,Dad. I'll always remember the good memories i had as a child and having you for my father. Watch over our family from heaven. I know your at peace. I wish i could fix everything that was left before you died. There's a spot in my heart that aches for you and probably always will until i see you someday in heaven. This has been a very sad time for all of us especially our children and Ed's family. I was married to Ed for 24 yrs and know that he is now at peace and is no longer suffering he had many sad times but I can remember a lot of good times with him and the children.I feel we can all rest now knowing he is safe and with our Lord.
