MILLIE C. JOHNSON CRAWFORD, 68 BYRON - Millie C. Johnson Crawford, 68, of Byron died Sunday April 7, 2013, in SwedishAmerican Hospital, Rockford. She was born August 29, 1944, in Davenport, IA, the daughter of John C. and Noreen (Bowling) Race, Sr. Millie retired in March, after 25 years of service, from Joseph Behr & Sons Iron & Metal in Rockford. She enjoyed golf and was a member of the Ladies Golf League at Prairie View Golf Course. Mille is survived by her husband, Homer; step-sons, Wade Joseph (Beth) Crawford of Rockford and Michael Dean (Stephanie) Crawford of Stillman Valley; 5 grandchildren and 1 great- grandchild; sister, Karen (Lamarr) Bowman of Manassas, VA; brother, John C. (Ann) Race, Jr. of Seaford, VA; stepmother, Helen Race of Silvis IL; and nephews, Christopher Race of Newport News, VA and Nicholas Race of Ft. Campbell, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 11, at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant St., Byron, with Rev. Scott Schmidt officiating. Homer & family - We are all so fortunate to have Millie in our lives. Her smile and laugh and sense of humor were always so comforting. She will live forever in our hearts so her spirit will be with us until we meet again. We love you Millie and we'll see you "later" because we can never say good-bye.
