TOMIS RAY (POISON) FERGUSON, 63 ROCKFORD - Tomis Ray (Poison) Ferguson, 63, of Rockford departed his early life on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, in Forest City Rehab and Nursing Center, after a long illness. He was born February 18, 1952, in Rockford, the son of Arzo and Irma Ferguson. Freelance Artist, stylish dresser and many talents. Tomis leaves to cherish his loving memories, one son Tomis Ray Jr. of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren; three sisters, Gwen Ross, Theresa (Howard) Parham, Gloria (James) Watson-Haley of Rockford. Special thanks to Forest City Rehab and Nursing Center and Staff and Heartland Hospice Care team for their outstanding care of Tomis. Service at noon, Friday, April 17th, at Collins and Stone Funeral Home, 128 South Fifth Street, Rockford, Illinois, with visitation from 10 a.m. to time of service. Pastor Maureen McLain officiating.

Fehler Sr., Wayne  
WAYNE L. FEHLER SR., 93 ROCKFORD - Wayne L. Fehler Sr., 93, of Rockford died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center. Born January 25, 1922, in Savanna, Illinois, son of Henry and Lula (Bogue) Fehler. Wayne was married to Margaret Willis on June 9, 1946. They were married for nearly 51 years until her passing. They had two children, Marcia Smith and Wayne Fehler Jr. Wayne graduated from West High School in 1942, and joined the U.S. Army shortly thereafter. After serving in North Africa and while fighting in Italy with the 34th Division, 135th Infantry Battalion, he was wounded in action on November 7, 1943. Upon recovering, he served as a military policeman in Italy and the United States until his release from the Army. He was a lifetime member of the Loves Park VFW. Wayne worked for Ingersoll Milling Machine for 33 years before retiring. Fishing, hunting, gardening, bird watching and spending time with his family were his hobbies. He is predeceased by his wife, Margaret; his son, Wayne Jr.; and his brother, Donn Fehler. Survivors include his sister, Dorothy Bowman of Beaver Dam, WI.; his daughter, Marcia Smith of Rockford; two granddaughters, Lara Compton of Rockford and Katina Glidden of Athel, ID; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Also his parakeet, "Chipper" lives on. Celebration of his life services at 10 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at Julian-Poorman-Welte Funeral Home. Visitation from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Franzen, Evelyn - Loves Park  
EVELYN F. FRANZEN, 86 LOVES PARK - Evelyn F. Franzen, 86, of Loves Park, was welcomed into heaven on Wednesday April 8, 2015, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born January 30, 1929, in Kewanee to Ernest and Marie (Heidemann) Kronewitz. A 1946 graduate of Harlem High School. She married Russell Franzen on November 19, 1949, at Grace Lutheran Church and together raised their two daughters. Evelyn remained a homemaker for many years then went on to attain her master's degree in education at Northern Illinois University. She proudly taught in Rockford-area school districts and was honored to be nominated for a Golden Apple Award. Family was Evelyn's greatest love in her life. She faithfully cooked Sunday night dinners, bringing many loved ones together in her home and instilling a deep appreciation for family. She was a devout Lutheran at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, vacations with her family, playing piano, feeding the birds, volunteering at Rock Valley College and North Suburban Women's Club and getting together with friends. Survivors include daughters, Cary (Tony) Saladino and Marie (Brian Klaung) Epling; grandchildren, Cindy (Oak) Hewer, Stephanie Saladino, Tony (Tracy Bolster) Saladino, Damon (Mallory) Epling and Adriane (Clayton) Heinrich; great-grandchildren, Matthew Heifner, Reece Saladino and Ashton Hewer; and family Michael Epling and Sophia Klaung. The family wishes to thank Dr. Edwards, Dr. Razbadouski, and SwedishAmerican Cancer Center. Due to her love and passion for education, memorials may be made to the family to establish a scholarship fund at Harlem High School. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 675 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL. Visitation from 10 am. until time of service. Luncheon immediately following service.
