MISS MARIE E. MEIRESONNE, 65 ROCKFORD - Miss Marie E. Meiresonne, 65, passed away at 1:10 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, in Rosewood Care Center, after a short illness. Born Jan. 3, 1950, in Moline, IL; daughter of Maurice and Beth (Ferguson) Meiresonne. She attended St. Patrick School, graduated from Muldoon High School, received her B.S. Ed. and M.S. degree in Special Education from Rockford College. Later received her M.S. in Theology. She taught Freshman Religion at Boylan Central Catholic High School from fall 1985 until spring 2014. She received the Boylan Edge Award on May 22, 2003. Former organist and choir director at St. Stanislaus and St. Patrick Churches. She enjoyed walking on the bike path, gardening, singing, and reading. Survivors include sisters, Jean (Kenneth) Lythgoe of Rockford, and Janice (William R.) Kreuger of Cedar Rapids, IA; brother, James (Ann Marie) Meiresonne of Ketchikan, AK; nieces, Mary, Elizabeth, and Judy; and nephews, William J., and Maurice J. Predeceased by her parents and niece, Karen. Visitation 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, in Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St., Rockford, IL 61107. Melan, Robert  
ROBERT LOUIS MELAN JANESVILLE, WI - Robert Louis Melan was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on July, 3, 1935. He grew up in Rockford, Illinois with his parents, Mae and Emil, and his brothers, Larry and Roger, who have all gone before him. Bob graduated from Marquette University and earned his Civil Engineering degree. He worked for the State Highway Commission, Highway Pavers, and Donohue & Associates. He was briefly self-employed and was the Grounds & Maintenance man for Eastbrook Church. He also earned his Professional Engineers license, and was the Project Engineer for the Zoo Interchange, the Harbor Bridge and several bridges and sewer treatment plants in Wisconsin and northern Illinois. In 1959, he married Susan (Suzi) Hathaway and they had six children, Michael (Cathy), Ann (Michael) Erickson, Timothy, Daniel, Cynthia (Tom) Lally and Katherine (John) Neumann. Their grandchildren are MacKenzie, Noah, Savannah, Bridget, Christian, Adam, Jessica, Kelsie, Brienna, Ella, and Grace. Their great-grandchildren are twins, Scotland and Cashton. Bob loved the Lord, his family, his friends, Eastbrook Church, working, and Lebanese food. Eighteen years ago he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and went through radiation which put him into remission until April of 2011, when the cancer had spread to his spine. After surgery he was paralyzed and bedridden for the last 3 1/2 years. He went to Glory on January 28, 2015. Memorial Service at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Eastbrook Church, 5385 N. Green Bay Road, Milwaukee, WI, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Eastbrook Church appreciated. WILLIAM D. MOORE, 83 ROCKFORD - William D. Moore, 83, was welcomed into heaven on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, in his home, surrounded by his family. Born November 10, 1931, in Walnut Ridge, AR to Carl H. and Roxie (Poe) Moore. He married Nova Lea Still and shared 64 years together. Bill raised his family in a home filled with love. He inspired people with his hard working ethics. A plumber by trade, a servant by heart, offering his trade skills to those in need; building homes for Habitat for Humanity, assisting the impoverished in Honduras or volunteering at the Salvation Army, packing boxes for the needy. Bill was a member of the Local 23 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union and was recognized for 55 years of membership. During that time he was a teacher for the apprenticeship program and active in all the festivities and events. Survivors include wife, Nova; children, William "Bill" Moore Jr. (Jo Ann) and Sheryl "Sheri" (Marc) Romine; grandchildren, Mindi Morris, Kristi Robertts, Lindsi Lightner, Britni Moore, Meghan Landi, Jenna Kiernan and Sara Romine and Derek Romine; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; host of really good friends and extended family. Predeceased by parents; brothers, Emmitt, Carl Jr., Joel and Don. The family is deeply thankful for the care given by Northern Illinois Hospice, their CNAs and especially nurse, Matt. TONI R. MELI, 72 ROCKFORD - Toni R. Meli, 72, of Rockford passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015, in Rockford Memorial Hospital from lung cancer. Born April 20, 1943; daughter of Thomas B. and Irene Meli. Toni is survived by sons, Troy Gregory and Eric Meli, both of Rockford; two brothers, George and Tom Meli; grandsons, Jeremy Gregory; two great- grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and longtime friends, Debbie Kearby Kimmy Kearby, Gary Ecklund, and Kathy Bachmeier. Predeceased by her parents and son, James Gregory. Toni will be missed by many friends and children whom she babysat, her favorite aunt, Barbara Makinsey. RUSSELL WILLIAM METHENY JR., 53 MACHESNEY PARK - Russell William Metheny Jr., 53, of Machesney Park, went into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, in his home. He was born Sept. 17, 1961, in Crisfield, Maryland to Russell William and Lou Anna (Collins) Metheny Sr. Rusty attended schools in Dover, Delaware until 1973, when his family moved to Illinois. He was a graduate of Harlem High School in 1981. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served aboard the USS Eisenhower. Most of his service took place in the Mediterranean Sea. He was stationed just off the shore when the Marine barracks were attacked and the Eisenhower was hit. Upon leaving the Navy, Rusty stayed on the East Coast for 10 years in the Washington, D.C. area where he learned the electrical trade. He became a member of the IBEW in Washington. When he moved back to Illinois he worked as a licensed electrical contractor in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. Rusty also did work for elderly people, especially older women; often refusing to accept any form of payment. He said they reminded him of his grandmother. Rusty was proud of his service in the United States Navy, and his service as a volunteer fireman with the North Park Fire Department. Rusty is survived by his parents; brother, Jeffrey Metheny; sister, Lynn (Stefaniak) Metheny; nephews, Joey and Joshua Domino; aunts, Nancy (Joe) Garcia of Fallen, Nevada, Pat (Dan) Kaylor of Rockford, Illinois and Brenda (Millard) Landon of Cristfield, Maryland; two great- aunts, Dorothy Riley and Louella Hecklemiller, both of Rockford, Illinois; numerous cousins, loves ones, friends; and two cats, Nicole and Midnight. Rusty is predeceased by his grandparents, Ernest and Elizabeth Collins of Cristfield, Maryland, Perry Metheny and Hilda Wright, both of Rockford, Illinois; uncles, Earnest Collins of Crisfield, Maryland and Jack Metheny of Rockford, Illinois; and aunt, Gloria Carlson of Rockford, Illinois. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, North Main Chapel, 2811 N. Main St. Rockford, with Rev. Robert Theroux officiating. LINDA L. (SPEAKE) MOLLWAY ROCKFORD - Linda Lea (Lin) Speake Mollway, the most unselfish person that most anyone could ever know, passed away peacefully in her sleep with her family at her side on Monday, January 26, 2015, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Lin was born in Rockford, Illinois to Juanita (McClellan) and Harry L. Speake. She married Paul Allen Mollway on January 4, 1964, in Rockford. John Michael was born October 20, 1964, and Jeffrey Allen on October 15, 1966. Lin will be missed terribly by her family and friends. She was a true friend, who taught us so much. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Tyler James Mollway; special brother-in-law, Keith Johnson; and many aunts and uncles. Survivors include husband, Paul; sons, John and Jeff; grandsons, Nathan, Austin, and Joshua; sister, Shirley Johnson; and many very dear nieces and nephews. A very special 'thank you' is extended Dr. Ajaz Khan; the amazingly caring staffs of OSF Cancer Center, Ambulatory Care, and 4 West; and to Rev. William Wentink for the love and support shown to Lin over the past nineteen months. JAMES VERDON MOYER, 82 BELVIDERE - James Verdon Moyer, 82, of Belvidere, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, IL. He was born October 21, 1932, in Agency, IA; the son of the late Ralph and Sylvia (Sweeny) Moyer. James married Barbara Herold June 20, 1953, in Freeport, IL. He was an 8 year U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War era. He received his associate's degree from the University of Iowa, where he wrestled and played on the Hawkeye basketball team. He retired from Chrysler after 30 years in 1995. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion #77, the Freeport Eagle Club #697, and the NRA. CHARLES H. MURR, 90 MACHESNEY PARK - Charles H. Murr, 90, of Machesney Park passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born Jan. 29, 1924, in Kingston, Tenn., son of James F. and Kate (Parker) Murr. After High School graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II until his honorable discharge on Feb. 14, 1946. He then met and married the love of his life, Ella Merlene Crabtree on Aug. 2, 1947. Employed by Strandquist Motor Company for 41 years, retiring Nov. 30, 1990. Mann, Charles  
REVEREND CHARLES WILLIAM MANN, 84 MACHESNEY PARK - The Rev. Charles William Mann, 84, passed away January 2, 2015 after a long illness. Born February 25, 1930 in Memphis TN to Dewey G. Mann Sr. and Martha O. Schrader. He met his future wife of 62 years, Ruth Evelyn Hawkins, as young pastor assigned to the Vienna-Radar Church in Missouri. They were married in the Vienna Church on June 10, 1951. He graduated from seminary at Southern Methodist University in 1956. In the tradition of the Methodist Church, Charles and Evelyn served many churches across Missouri and Illinois raising their four children along the way. They worked as a team and enjoyed their many years of service in the UMC. Their fondest memories were from the half a dozen church building programs they were involved with. These were the toughest times in their lives but also some of the most meaningful ones. Charles retired while at The First UMC in Galesburg in 1992 and moved to Knoxville, TN. In his later years he moved back "North" to Machesney Park where he attended several churches including Aldersgate UMC in Rockford. He is survived by his brother, Jack Mann, Centralia, IL; children, Toni Werner of Alcoa, TN, Charles Jr. (Robin) Mann of Belvidere, Bruce (Tammy) Mann of Phoenix, AZ, and Howard Mann of Machesney Park, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife, (Ruth) Evelyn; a sister, a brother, and grandson. Memorial Service at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4055 N. HAROLD E. METZ, 79 ROCKTON - Harold E. Metz, 79, of Rockton passed away peacefully in his home, Tuesday, January 20, 2015. Born Feb. 9, 1935, in Apple River, Illinois, the son of Louis and Mable (Nyborg) Metz. His family migrated to Rockton when he was two years old, where he chose to remain and raise his family. He attended Hononegah High School. Harold married Margaret "Peggy" Rigotti in Rockford on September 24, 1956. He was employed as an assembly floor foreman, at Cotta Transmission for over 30 years until he decided to devote his life to full-time farming. His passions included farming and restoring antique cars and tractors. Harold was a member of the "Model A" club, where he enjoyed cultivating many new friendships. He was a member of Farm Bureau and vacationed with the Ag. Venture Seed Company group. Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Rockton; daughters, Deborah Long of Rockton and Lisa (Roland) Ingalls of Rockford; grandchildren, William Ingalls and Alyson Long; sister, Esther Messing of Rockford; sisters-in-law, Janice Burkins of Rockton and Mary Metz of Rockton; many nieces and nephews and a very special nephew, Joseph (Cecilia) Metz. Predeceased by parents and siblings, Ruth Adams and Howard Metz.
