MARIE C. GORRELL, 93 ROCKFORD - Marie C. Gorrell, 93, of Rockford passed away peacefully Monday, August 24, 2015, at her residence with family by her side. Marie was the loving daughter of Emmanuel and Anna (Caroti) Diamonte. Survivors include one child, Diana Gorrell; various cousins and their families, Nancy (Paul) Rehberg, Kristin (Kris) Franklin, Bernita (Warren) Grow, Lloyd Koenig, Lorraine (Brian) Carlson, Irene Erdmann, Carol Tompkins and Paul Torzeski. A service to celebrate Marie's life will be 1 p.m. Friday August 28, 2015, at Beth Eden United Methodist Church, 3203 Huffman Blvd., in Rockford, with visitation from noon until time of service at the church. Private burial will be at Willwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Beth Eden United Methodist Church or Rockford Health Systems Visiting Nurses Association. Guarino, Josephine - Rockford  
JOSEPHINE C. (GULATTO) GUARINO, 93 ROCKFORD - Josephine C. (Gulatto) Guarino, 93, of Rockford passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. She was born September 1, 1921, in Alton, IL, the daughter of Peter and Josephine (Palmero) Gulotta. She married Joseph Guarino on September 14, 1941, at St. Anthony's Church in Rockford. She worked for Roma Bakery at North Towne Mall and Bergner's Distribution Center. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Josephine enjoyed cooking for her family, especially on Sugo Sundays and soup on New Year's Day. She also enjoyed going to Bergner's Breakfasts, gambling at the boat, playing Skit Skat, and traveling with friends and family. More than anything, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Josie's feisty spirit and sayings will be missed by all who loved her. Survivors include her son, Frank (Pat) Guarino of Austin, TX; son-in-law, James Krein of Rockford; brother, Sam Gulatto and sister-in-law, Annie Fertitta; grandchildren, Jimmy (Laura) Krein, Julie (David) Hindenburg, Becky (Joe) Miceli, Amy (Rusti) Swanson, all of Rockford, Christopher Guarino and Jason Guarino of Austin TX; great grandchildren, Jimmy, Rachel, Joseph, Sarah, Maria, Rebecca, Peter, Isabella, Olivia and Anthony Krein, Jenna, Jessica, Josephine and Jacob Hindenburg, Joseph and Benjamin Miceli, Eric, Andrew and Kayla Swanson; great-great-grandchild, Melanie Hindenburg; close family/friends, Michelle Gulatto, Armando and Frances Aronica and Melody Maney. Predeceased by husband, Joseph; daughter, Margaret; parents, Peter and Josephine; brothers, Jasper, Joseph (Buck), Alec, Tony; and infant sister, Mary. Our deepest appreciation to all of Josie's loving caregivers, especially Sandra, Sandy, Rachel, and Ashley. BARBARA J. HOMEWOOD, 94 ROCKFORD - Barbara J. Homewood, 94, Rockford, died August 25, 2015. She was born August 12, 1921, in Rockford, daughter of George P. and Lillian Messer Doerr. She lived a long and productive life and was so loved by all who knew her. She worked for the City of Rockford Health Department and later was one of the first secretaries when the city combined to make the Winnebago County Health Department. She retired in 1985. She loved walking on the beach in Florida, collecting shells and spending time with family and friends. She and her second husband, Ken had a great love of traveling and were able to enjoy many different destinations. She is survived by her daughters, Kaye E. (Richard) Theisen, Janis M, (David) Snider Parsons; step children, Diane (Dan) Neal, Steven (Betsy) Homewood, David Homewood and John (Judy) Homewood; grandsons, Richard (Marsha) Theisen and Steven (Heather) Theisen; great-grandchildren, Brock, Morgan, Makenzie, Rosilee; step grandchildren, Lorena (John Koski) Neal, Irene (Christ) Belesiotis, Caitlin (Brian) Buffa, Stephanie (Brandon) Boozer, Bradley Homewood, Roxanne Homewood, Brandon Homewood, Donald Homewood, and Thomas Homewood; step great- grandchildren, Elinor and Evelyn Koski, Talia and Niko Belesiotis, Palmer and Reece Boozer, Izabella and Sophiya Homewood, Curtis Pruitt, Keiton and Channing Johnson, Kayleigh Dorian; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, George and Lillian; brothers, Jean, Bill, George and Paul Doerr; sister, Katherine Mason; first husband, Earl L. Snider and second husband, Kenneth Homewood who died August 12, 2014; and great-granddaughter, Emily Theisen. Special thanks to all the wonderful staff of Hospice of America who took such great care of our Mother in her time of need and the Wesley Willows family for their support at this time. Johnson, LeRoy - Rockford  
LeRoy E. "John" Johnson, 71, ROCKFORD - LeRoy E. "John" Johnson, 71, passed away August 26, 2015, surrounded by family. LeRoy was born June 14, 1944, in Milaca, MN to Delbert and Ruth (Passehl) Johnson. He grew up in Olgilvie, MN and attended Olgilvie High School. He served four years during the Vietnam War on the USS Enterprise from 1962 to 1966, as a Petty Officer 2nd Class. After serving in the military, he followed his shipmate to Rockford, IL. While attending Rock Valley College and working at St. Anthony's Hospital, he met Beverly Perrone. He and Beverly married June 8, 1968, in St. James Catholic Church in Rockford. He worked for Sundstrand for 27 years. Together they enjoyed Saturday evening Mass at St. James, followed by dinner at the Capri with friends; traveling - from their honeymoon to the west coast through their annual trips to Las Vegas; and watching ball games - the Cubs, Lady Huskies/Titans; and especially their grandkids. John loved to fish, camp, golf, play racquetball, paint, play guitar, and tinker in his shed. John is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughter, Andrea (Shawn) Burns; son, Tim Johnson; grandkids, Connor, Anthony, Caden, Alex, and Ava; brothers, Kent Johnson, Eldon (Darleen) Johnson, Gerald (Mary) Johnson; sister, DeLaine (Ron) Rebeck, brothers-in-law, Paul and David Perrone; cousins; numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Fr. David Beauvais for his guidance; and Heartland Hospice caregivers, Tara, Brittni, Cathy, Chaplin Joe, and volunteer, Larry. Tyrell, Pierce - Franklin Park  
PIERCE G. TYRRELL ROCKFORD - Former Rockford resident, Pierce G. Tyrrell passed away peacefully under the care of the St. Thomas Hospice in La Grange, IL. Pierce was born in Elgin, IL in 1920. He graduated from Perdue University in 1942, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Moving to Rockford in 1943, he joined J.I Case Company then Twin Disc, working for the firm in Rockford, Racine, and Los Angeles. He was a member of Rockford's University Club since 1943. Mr. Tyrrell was predeceased by his loving wife, Marcia. He is survived by his three daughters, Julie (Kevin) McLaughlin, Susan (Thomas) Richards, and Ann (TJ) Corbin; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great- grandchild; and five step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Mary (Richard) Myers of Lake Geneva, WI. Pierces grandfather, Dr. Pierce Tyrrell, bought property on Fontana's lakefront in 1891, where he had a home constructed. In later years, the house was sold and eventually became Chucks Lakeshore Inn. Family and friends will gather Saturday, August 29, 2015, at St. Benedict Church, 137 Dewey Ave., Fontana, WI, from 9:15 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Inurnment will take place privately at the Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin IL. ELEANOR FRANCES BOETTCHER, 95 BELVIDERE - Eleanor Frances Boettcher, 95, of Belvidere, where she was a resident of Maplecrest Care Center, formerly of Genoa, died Sunday, August 23, 2015, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. She was born March 24, 1920, in Aurora; the daughter of William and Nina (Drake) Reams. Eleanor graduated from the Catholic High School in DeKalb. She married Fred E. Boettcher on August 17, 1940, at St. Mary's Church in DeKalb. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere and a former member of St. Catherine of Genoa Church in Genoa. She is survived by four daughters, Sharon (James) Greenlee of Springfield, MO, Marilyn (Gordon) Lockwood of Shepherd, MT, Kathleen (James) Lattimer of Nixon, MO, Beverly (Merwyn) Thompson of Marengo; one son, Richard (Sandra) Boettcher of Shepherd, MT; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1999; and son, Fred Boettcher, Jr. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Cooper-Quiram Chapel, 202 E. THELMA S. BOOZELL, 101 BELVIDERE - Thelma S. Boozell, 101, of Belvidere, IL, and formerly of Mason City, IA, died Saturday, August 22, 2015, at the Northwoods Care Center in Belvidere. Thelma was born August 9, 1914, in Williams, IA, the daughter of Lars O. and Dora B. (Torkilson) Warwick. She attended school in Williams. On April 29, 1935, Thelma married Gerald R. Boozell in Galena, IL. The couple moved to Freeport, IL in 1937, and later Mason City in 1941. Thelma was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in Elizabeth Circle. Thelma is survived by her son, Eldon D. Boozell and wife, Barbara of Belvidere; 4 grandchildren; 8 great- grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 3 step great- grandchildren; and 1 brother, Harold Warwick of Amery, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2000; 3 brothers; and 1 sister. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City, with Rev. Kevin Jones officiating. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. thaddeus 'ted' j. dutkiewicZ, 68 ROCKFORD - Thaddeus "Ted" J. Dutkiewicz, 68, of Rockford, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Wednesday, August 19, 2015, with his family at his side. Born in Chicago on August 13, 1947; to parents, Henry and Adeline (Garstka) Dutkiewicz. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 in South Korea. Ted married his loving wife, Kathleen Knowlton, on April 29, 1972; in Chicago, IL. He was actively involved with the Boy Scouts, serving as Scout Master for Troop 139 at Holy Family Church, and a devout member of St. Bridget Catholic Church. Ted worked as the Revenue Manager for the City of Rockford; and was a regular volunteer for 10 years at the Rockford Rescue Mission. He loved hockey, especially the Blackhawks and the Ice Hogs; he was Captain of his hockey team at U of I, as well as his high school team. Ted enjoyed life, and was blessed with the love of his family and many friends. He will be missed dearly. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Dutkiewicz; children, Matthew (Jamie) Dutkiewicz, Michelle (Robin) Gordon; brother, Raymond (Kathleen) Dutkiewicz; granddaughter, Callie Lyn Gordon; "adopted" daughter, Heather (Jim) Schneider; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice, especially RN Lisa and CNA Stephanie, for their gentle care. Ted is predeceased by his parents; and his Busia, Mary Garstka. A Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park, IL, 61111.
