Betty Asher

BETTY ASHER, 80 ROCKFORD - Betty Asher, 80, of Rockford died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at KSB Hospital in Dixon. Born Nov. 24, 1931, in Leachville, Ark., daughter of Floyd and Agnes Hanners. She married James Asher on Aug. 19, 1950, in Pickett, Ark. She worked for National Lock for more than 35 years, until her retirement in 1988. She enjoyed throwing New Year's Eve parties for her grandchildren, sewing, candy making, and traveling around the country visiting with her family. Survived by husband James "J.W." Asher; children, Rogennia (Victor Novack) Asher, Pat (Chuck Nelson) Asher and Jamie (David) Carey; grandchildren, Bruce "Chip" (Jody) Caruth, Tonya Caruth, Frederick "Rick" (Stacy) DuPont II, Desiree DuPont, Niki Glenn and Andrea Glenn; six great-grandchildren; sister, Nola Pitise; and brother, Dan (Virgie) Hanners. Predeceased by her parents; brother, Richard Hanners; and sister, Bernice Hillhouse. Service at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 7000 W. State St., Rockford.
