Celia Holmes

CELIA MAXINE HOLMES ROCKFORD - Celia Maxine Holmes of Rockford departed this earthly life, Saturday, July 13, 2013, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, after a long illness. She was born July 24, 1924, in Camden, Arkansas; the daughter of Robert and Nellie Stovall. Celia lived in Rockford since 1942, coming from Arkansas. She married James I. Holmes May 14, 1955, in Rockford. Celia was employed as a machinist by National Lock Company 35 years before retiring. She was a Charter member of Providence Baptist Church, serving as an Usher. She graduated from Oak Grove High School in Roston, Arkansas. Celia, leaves to cherish many memories, her sister, Mildred M. Stovall of Madison, WI; special niece, Bernadine Stovall; stepson, Donald Holmes; six grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; son; two brothers; and one niece. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Providence Baptist Church, 2209 Clifton Ave. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
