1SG CHARLES RICHARD 'CHUCK' MULCAHY MACHESNEY PARK - 1SG Charles Richard Mulcahy "Chuck", of Machesney Park, IL, retired peacefully from life on October 4th, 2013. During his 24 year career Chuck was the recipient of numerous meritorious medals including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. During his career he served as a Gunnery Sargent through 2 tours of Vietnam. Chuck married Mary Alice Wiegel in 1970. He is survived by his wife, Mary; siblings, Karen (Charles) Kittoe, Mary Ellen Timpe, Dennis (Cheryl) Mulcahy; children, Greg (Brenda) Banfield, Janice (Todd) Opgenorth, Tony (Peggy) Banfield, Nancy (Kevin) Vanderah, Stan Banfield, Nick (Lilly) Mulcahy; 22 grandchildren, including his special little buddy, (Miles Mulcahy). Chuck was an avid Cubs and Bears fan who also loved fishing, visiting casinos and spending time with his wife. He will be deeply missed. Memorial Service will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 9th, at the Cremation Society of Illinois, 6825 Weaver Road, Rockford, IL, with a Memorial Dinner at Blackhawk Athletic Club directly after.
