Charles Runge

CHARLES W. 'CHARLIE' RUNGE, 55 MILWAUKEE - Charles W. "Charlie" Runge, 55, died unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, while enjoying an evening run. Husband of Cheryl L. Runge (nee Murata). Father of Peter and Paul Runge. Son of the late Dr. Paul Runge and Anne Baxter. Brother of Miriam, and the late John Runge, Amy Gaffney and Carolyn (Danny) Gammerman. Loved by other relatives and friends. Charlie was a graduate of Talawanda High School in Oxford, Ohio, Beloit College and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Phi Beta Kappa. He dedicated his working life to healthcare administration at numerous hospitals before joining Froedtert Hospital in 1995 during the County Hospital buyout. Most recently, he was Froedtert Health's senior vice president for planning and service line management. He felt honored to contribute to improving the quality of healthcare in the Milwaukee area. A celebration of Charlie's life at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, 1615 N. Wauwatosa Ave., Wauwatosa, with visitation with family and friends from 9:30 a.m. to time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the Froedtert Hospital Foundation in the name of the Charlie Runge Family Fund, 9200 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53226, or the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin (ARCW), 820 N. Plankinton Ave., P.O. Box 510498, Milwaukee, WI 53203-0092. Charlie's love and gentle nature will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
