CHARLOTTE VIRGINIA WILLSEY, 95 ROCKFORD - Charlotte Virginia Willsey, 95, of Rockford went home to be with her Lord Friday, April 5, 2013. Born March 6, 1918, in Rockford. Charlotte was the daughter of Lester Elias and Mayme (Banks) Willsey. A lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Rockford, she worked in the Sunday School, AWANA, and Vacation Bible School programs and belonged to the Esther Circle and the "We are Won" Bible class. She graduated from Rockford Central High School in 1935, earned a B.E. at N.I.U. in 1939, and a M.A. at Denver U. in 1955. She taught 4 years in Villa Park, Ill., and 34 years in the Rockford school system, teaching 2nd graders at Kishwaukee, Summerdale, and Wight Schools. She substitute taught for 20 years after her retirement. She volunteered in the Friendship Shop of the Rockford Library and helped with Child Evangelism's Good News Club, both with the summer clubs and the weekly after school club at Walker School. Survivors include sister-in-law, Lu Willsey of Rockford; niece, Leslie (James) Breit of Rockford; step nephews, Gary (Carol) Shook of Rockford, Bob (Jennifer) Shook of Littleton, Colo.; step nephew-in-law, Dale Gray of Catlin, Ill.; great-nieces, Emily (Pat) McCurley of Peyton, Colo., Kayla Breit of Rockford, Kaitlin (Joshua) Byers of Rockford, Molly (Patrick) Outlow of Loves Park, and Melanie Breit of Rockford; great-nephews, David (Lindsay) Breit of Colorado Springs, Colo., John (Courtnie) Breit of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, Michael Breit of Machesney Park, and Nathaniel Breit of Rockford; great-grandniece, Avalon Breit of Rockford; and great-grandnephew, Caden Breit of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada. Predeceased by her parents; siblings, Lester Willsey, Alice Blair, and Helen Willsey; nephews, Robert Willsey and Lester Blair; and step-niece, Brenda Gray. Special thanks to the caregivers at River Bluff Nursing Home for their skilled and gentle care. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., North Main Chapel, 2811 N. Main Street, with Rev. Scott Williquette officiating.
