DIANA (PETERSON) RYAN, 66 LOVING MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER AND FRIEND ROCKFORD - Diana Lynn Ryan, 66, of Rockford, a retired nurse, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013, surrounded by family, after battling a long series of illnesses. Born March 8, 1947, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Gustave Ernest Peterson and Charlotte Jane (Chappell) Peterson. Attended West High School. Married Thomas E. Ryan in Rockford in 1965. Graduated from Rock Valley College, Nursing Program, in 1991. She devoted her life to caring for others, from childcare earlier in life, to healthcare as an L.P.N. in Rockford area nursing homes until she retired. She enjoyed taking long drives with her family and had a great love for animals, especially Snickers and Tiki, her beloved dog and cat. Survived by children, Shelley (Greg) Carlson, of Belvidere, IL, and Tom (Tellie) Ryan, of Rockford, IL: grandchildren, Ryan Carlson and Keagan Carlson, of Belvidere, IL, and Austin Ryan, of Rockford, IL: special cousins, Leland F. Peterson, of Horseshoe Bay, TX, Barbara P. Layman, of Cordova, TN, Janice McGrath, of St. Charles, IL. Predeceased by her parents and former husband, Thomas E. Ryan, retired Rockford Firefighter. Diana's family would like to extend their gratitude to the compassionate nursing staff at Valley Hi Nursing Home and Passages Hospice, also to Dr. Achal Ahmed at Centegra, Jackie May and Sherry at Rockford Nephrology, and especially to Dr. Danny Copeland and Nancy at Valley Clinic, who all provided extraordinary care for their mother. Memorial visitation on Thursday, September 5th from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to funeral service at 1 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 N. First Street, Rockford, with Pastor Jay Quinn officiating. Burial immediately following in Greenwood Cemetery, 1011 Auburn Street, Rockford. Flowers welcome or donations to the family for a memorial fund to be established at a later date. Arrangements by Anderson-Long-Klontz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ltd., 6825 Weaver Road.
