DONALD ROY HILL, 81 ROCKFORD - Matthew 25:21 "Well done, thou good and faithful servant........" Donald Roy Hill, 81, Rockford, IL passed from death unto life Wednesday, February 12, 2014, in his home, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born June 14, 1932, in Shuqualak, MS., the son of Walter and Gladys (Womble) Hill, coming to Rockford in 1954. Don attended Calhoun High School in Nanih Waiya, MS before enlisting in the US Army and serving in the Korean War from 1950-1953, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He married Marilyn Lane June 13, 1958, in Rockford, IL. He worked at Barber Colman/Pfauter Maag for over 37 years. He was a member of Rockford First Assembly for 58 years and served as usher, Sunday school teacher and board member. He was also a member of Korean War Veterans Assoc Chapter 272. He was honored to be a member of the VetsRoll II group that toured Washington DC in 2012. He enjoyed working in his yard, tool shed, and fishing with his sons in Canada. His most pleasureful moments were spent with his children and grandchildren. He always looked forward to traveling to Mississippi to visit his daughter. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Kahla (fiancé, Mark Kennedy), Pearl, MS; sons, Kerry (Sandy), Caledonia and Kyle, Cherry Valley; and grandchildren, Ryan and Adam Hill. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters. Funeral Service 2 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Rockford First, 5950 Spring Creek Road, Rockford, with Pastor Dan Qualls officiating.
