EARNESTINE COLEMAN ROCKFORD - Earnestine Coleman, of Rockford departed this earthly life Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Neighbors Rehabilitation Center in Byron, IL, after a long illness. She was born August 13, 1933, in Camden, Arkansas; the daughter of Elbert and Rachel Primm. Earnestine lived 58 years in Rockford, coming from Camden. She married Rev. John Coleman, he preceded her in death. She was employed as a Certified Nurses Assistant by Alma Nelson Manor 14 years before retiring. She was a member of United Faith Missionary Baptist Church, serving on the Mothers Board and former Sunday School teacher; she also joined New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Earnestine was a member of the Ministers Wives Fellowship. She graduated from School in Camden. She was a loving mother and grandmother, known by some as Granny, Tina, or Grandma Earnie. Ernestine leaves to cherish many loving memories, daughter, Janet Spencer; son, Elbert Ricky (Retha) Turner; four grandchildren, Frankie, Perris, Antwanisha and Chakwan; 7 great- grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Alberta Primm; 5 godchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband; parents; five sisters; and four brothers. Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 2919 - 19th Street. Burial in Willwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home, 2429 W. State Street.
