Edwin Hall

EDWIN K. (SANDY) HALL ROCKFORD - Sandy (Edwin) Hall of Rockford died peacefully in his home on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. He was born on August 27, 1926, to Clara and Emory Hall. He took over the ownership of Wilson-Hall Printing from his father, ran the business for forty-five years, and then sold it to MS2 Graphics. Sandy attended East High School and Lake Forest Academy, and graduated from DePauw University. He served in the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific. He married Susan Collins Ragsdale in 1979. Sandy loved to grow roses, golf, ski, (in Colorado, Montana, and Wisconsin) duck hunt, (in Hennepin, Illinois) fly fish, (in Montana, and especially on the Brule River in Northern Wisconsin), and making people smile. For many years he and Susan spent winters on Gasparilla Island-then later on Pine Island in Florida. He was a member of Rockford County Club, the University Club, and Phi Delta Theta. He is survived by his wife, Susan; children, David Hall, Katharine Harrison, Steven (Keiko) Hall; 5 step-children, David (Patricia), Christiana, Robert (Dana), Jennifer (Daniel Fenelon), and Toby (Lynda) Ragsdale; grandchildren, Kelli Hall, Eric and Kevin Harrison, Naoto and Kana Hall, Lily, Josephine and Deygan Ragsdale; sister, Katharine Freeman; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by the mother of his three children, Jane Hall and his parents. Private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be sent to donor's choice.
