ELOISE 'THERESE' (MCDONALD) KAISER ELDRIDGE, Iowa - Eloise "Therese" (McDonald) Kaiser passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on June 28, 2013, in Eldridge, Iowa. Therese was born on June 22, 1937, to Thomas and Katherine (Maher) McDonald in Imogene, Iowa. She graduated from St. Patrick's Academy Catholic School in Imogene in 1955. Therese earned a degree in registered nursing from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1958. On December 27, 1961, she was united in marriage to Paul Lee Kaiser at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. From this union, four children were born, Kathie (Chris) Lampe, Bellevue, Marty (Marianne) Kaiser, Rockton, Illinois, Peggy (Brent) Ohl, Eldridge, and Joe (Francesca) Kaiser, Ely. Therese began a lengthy nursing career at Palmer Memorial Hospital in 1962. She spent the next 45 years serving the community of West Union and Fayette County where she cared for the young, adults and the elderly. She spent those years working in the hospital, clinic, and eventually as a visiting home health care nurse to the elderly of Fayette County. Therese loved to actively follow all of her grandchildren's activities, Matt Lampe, Sam Lampe, Anna Lampe, Sarah Lampe, Nathan Kaiser, Rachel Kaiser, special grandsons, Joey Kaiser, Tom Ohl, and Charlie Ohl. Therese was an active member of Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union, Iowa. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband of 51 years in a variety of ways that included playing golf and cards and going to the gambling boat. Survivors include her 4 children; 8 grandchildren; and her 4 siblings, Katherine Laughlin, Jim McDonald, John McDonald (Marge), and Eleanor (Frank) Eller. Eloise (Therese) was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Katherine; her husband, Paul; her grandson, Joseph (Joey); her brother, Emmett; her brothers-in-law, Lou Laughlin and Greg Kaiser; sister-in-law, Ruth McDonald; and nephews, Mike McDonald and Aaron Kaiser. The family would like to thank the many friends and neighbors that helped Therese through this difficult time and they include, Charles Wagner, Mike Wolfs, Jane Marshall, and Lindy Gage. They also would like to thank Palmer Health Hospice the Heartland Hospice staff in Davenport, Iowa and Dr. Costas Constantinou, Oncologist. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union, with the Reverend Dale Rausch officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, rural West Union. A public visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, with a rosary service starting at 4 p.m., at Burnham-Wood & S.K.
