EVELYN W. SWANSON, 100 ROCKFORD - Evelyn W. Swanson, 100, of Rockford passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Emeritus of Rockford. Born Nov. 11, 1911, in Sycamore; the daughter of Walter and Nellie (Wickstrom) Worden. She married former Rockford Fire Chief, Wayne E. Swanson on April 18, 1974, in Rockford; he died June 10, 1989. She attended Belvidere High School and Rockford Central High School, and later attended Brown's Business College. Evelyn worked at Central Illinois Electric & Gas Co., and San Diego City Schools and was deputy city clerk of the City of Rockford. Evelyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and belonged to the Professional Secretaries International (Hononegah Chapter), Daughters of the Nile (Alabet Temple No. 31), Senior Women's Club of the YMCA and former member of Women's Ingersoll Golf Group. Survived by stepson, Ted (Linda) Swanson; grandchildren, Meredith Ann, Melissa Sue and Michael James (Bobbie Jo) Swanson; cousins, Cheryl Albert and Connie Gustafson; and great-grandson, Michael James Swanson II. The family would like to thank special friends and caregivers, Martha Moore and Ella Horton, along with the staffs of Emeritus of Rockford and Heartland Hospice for all the love and care they gave Evelyn. Service at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd., North Main Chapel, 2811 N. Main St., with visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m.; Pastor Donald Lavelle will officiate.
